Today, they’re only about 900 people, split between Mount Gerizim and Holon, but they’ve never left the land. Through every empire and every era, they kept their traditions intact. And the “Good Samaritan” story? That’s a Christian parable — unrelated to their actual religion.

What makes them remarkable is how present they feel. This isn’t a reenactment or a revival. It’s a community that has carried its biblical world straight into 2026.

The Best Tahini in the World

Ask an Israeli where to find the best tahini, and nine times out of ten they’ll say Har Bracha Tahini. Tahini itself is simple: a paste made from ground sesame seeds, used for thousands of years across the Middle East. It’s one of those ingredients that quietly does everything—smoothies, cookies, salad dressings, yogurt toppings, whatever you throw at it, tahini makes it better.

I didn’t expect to meet a group like The Israel Guys out here. They’re a volunteer crew—mostly Christians—who’ve made Israel their home and spend their days helping farmers, pruning vineyards, clearing fields, and showing up wherever small communities need an extra set of hands. No speeches, no pressure, no agenda. Just work boots, sunburns, and a quiet sense of purpose.

Many of them grew up with Israel woven into their lives, so when they talk about “supporting Israel,” it isn’t political. It’s personal. Their organization brings volunteers from all kinds of Christian backgrounds—some come for ten days, some for a month—and they spend their time in the vineyards of Judea and Samaria, helping farmers build these communities one row of grapes at a time.

They even built a visitor center on their hilltop, a place where people can learn, volunteer, and see the work up close. There it was again: if you build it, they will come. 

What struck me most was the hilltop itself: one ridge, three communities—Jewish, Christian, and Samaritan—all within sight of each other, each with its own story. Watching volunteers haul crates of grapes under the afternoon sun, it felt less like ideology and more like people simply showing up for something they believe in.

It’s hard not to appreciate that.

Har Kabir Viewpoint

From Har Kabir, you can literally trace the earliest journeys in Jewish history. Abraham crossed the Jordan Valley, reached Shechem, and stood at Elon Moreh — the spot where, according to the text, God tells him: This is the land. Jacob followed the same path generations later.

This ridge ties into Yehoshua too. From here he gathered the people and renewed their connection and promise. Today, a small Jewish community is growing there again — returning thousands of years after Abraham and more than three millennia after the Israelites entered the land.

Jeremiah’s verse captures the feeling of standing here: “Plant vineyards again on the mountains of Samaria…”

And you can see it happening. Vineyards on the hills of Shomron, new communities taking root, wineries producing bottles from these slopes. It’s not about preaching — it’s just striking to see something described in ancient text reflected in the landscape right in front of you.
